Mission Possible Summer 2012

Rocky Boy Reservation, Montana

June 28/29 to July 7/8

Our First Planning Meeting will be Monday, January 30 at 7:00 PM

We have the dates and location for the summer Mission Possible trip.  There are many details that need to be planned: how will we travel, our extra-curricular activities, getting to know each other prior to leaving, and other such important details.  Please plan to attend if you are considering joining your Lord of Life brothers and sisters on a mission trip.  We will be doing two things while there: working with Flathead Bible Camp to put on a Vacation Bible School for the children of the Indian Reservation and also doing building projects (as yet undetermined – maybe helping to build a clinic or helping to repair last summer’s flood damage). We will also have a chance to have a cross cultural experience with the Chippewa Cree people of Rocky Boy Reservation as they teach us what it means to live on the            reservation.  We are sure to learn a lot, experience something new, contribute something of ourselves, be  humbled, and return home changed.  It is time now to be asking God if this is where you should be in July of 2012.  Ask Heidi if you need a brochure or more information.

There will be no witness team meeting in January.

Christmas Trees for Mission As this report is being written on Sunday, Dec. 18, only 6 orphan Christmas

trees     remain unsold out of 300! Also, only a few crosses and wreaths remain unsold out of 50 each! Thus, the sale of the trees, crosses and wreaths has been a big success. The money raised from the sales will be reported later. A big thank you goes to all the volunteers who staffed the tree lot during the sale, to Rusty Morse and Dan Cryer, who picked up the trees in Oregon after Thanksgiving, to Steve Joyce, who set up the fencing and lights, and to all the people who supported the sale through their purchases. The funds raised will go to the mission projects below.

Mission Trips A spring mission trip to Campbell Farm is scheduled for May 3-5, 2012. Another more distant trip is

planned for the Rocky Boy Indian Reservation in Montana for June 30 through July 5, 2012. If you are interested in         participating in  either or both of these trips, please put these dates on your calendar for next year.  They are always so meaningful to those we serve and to us who do the serving!

Quilting and Sewing

As usual we have been having good times every Thursday morning putting together donated fabrics and creating quilts for Lutheran World Relief as well as local agencies.  After the holidays we will be focusing on making baby blankets for Lutheran World Relief in addition to our larger quilts.  A few days before Christmas we met to give our closet space a much needed cleaning and rearranging. If you are cleaning out your stash we accept any donations of fabric.

Any and all are welcome to join us for some sewing, ironing or tying on Thursday mornings at 9:15.  No experience necessary.  Contact Jacki Frederickson  if you have any questions.
