Mardi Gras: A Pre-Lenten Carnival
The carnival before
Lent is widely celebrated throughout the world. One of the cities
associated with Mardi Gras is New Orleans, the location of this summer’s
ELCA Youth Gathering where 6 of our High School Youth will be attending.
What is the literal
meaning of the name Mardi Gras? a) thanks for March b) fat Tuesday c)
marriage grass
Why is it called
“carnival”? a) Because meat is set aside b) because clowns attend all
festivities c) Because it is a spring celebration
For the answers to
these questions and much more, you will want to attend Mardi Gras! Not in
New Orleans, but right here at Lord of Life!
With the help of
our New Orleans bound Youth, we will celebrate Mardi Gras on Friday February
17 from 6 to 8 PM
Dinner will be
served, music will play and fun and games will be had.
