LYO Holden Village 2017

LYO
Here are some pictures from the Holden Village trip the LYO group took February 17-20. We had a blast sledding, snowshoeing, and cross country skiing. For many of us it was our first time on snowshoes and skis! We also got to make glass & basket crafts, and have some great fellowship time. A fun time was had by all! Middle School

Middle School
We had an amazing time at Lutherhaven for our Middle School Retreat.  We made new friends, got to sled with tons of snow on the ground, and eat like Kings and Queens.  Thank you to Lutherhaven for having us and showing us a great time. Theme Verse: Ephesians 2:10 - For we are God's masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.

Young Years Preschool

Young Years Preschool
Love is in the air at Young Years Christian Preschool this Valentine’s month!  Our little ones are learning that “sharing is caring” and “love is a hug.”  We are excited that our classrooms have been filled with a bunch of “SWEETHEARTS!”  Our halls are displaying the joys of the Holiday with hearts and Valentine’s mailboxes.  Next week, Feb 9-10, will be the children’s Valentine’s parties. During this time, the children will get to pass out their cards and treats. This is a wonderful opportunity for the children to show their friends how much they mean to them.  During the month of February, we will continue talking about God’s love for us! The classes will continue memorizing their Bible verse for the month; “Trust in the Lord with all your heart.”…

LYO

LYO, Uncategorized
The LYO, your high school group, had a great retreat on the Oregon Coast. We enjoyed a gorgeous home for our stay, beautiful weather, yummy and plentiful food, some fun excursions, plenty of laughter, and (most importantly) learning and growing in our faith. Our theme this year was: Whatever. And before you jump to any conclusions about teens and the word “whatever” let me explain. Philippians 4:8-9 says: Whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is pleasing, whatever is commendable – if anything is worthy of praise – think on these things. Keep on doing the things that you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, and the God of peace be with you. We studied showing mercy, our giftedness, and…

Friendly vs. Welcoming

Deacon, Newsletter, Welcoming
Did you know that there is a difference between being a Friendly Congregation and a Welcoming Congregation? For some, it might just be semantics but others will point out the difference. Almost every congregation is friendly. Friendly is sharing feelings with those you already know. It is pretty easy to be warm and accepting to the people you already know or with whom you have some connection. If you look, act, dress, and speak like me, it is easier to be friendly. Our Guiding Principles do not state that we strive to be a friendly congregation. They state that we will be an Inviting Community, Welcoming Everyone. Welcome goes beyond opening up to those we know or who share a lot of similarities. Welcome is sharing hospitality with a stranger…
